The purpose of the KANA’s Women’s Self Defense Program is to respectfully train women on ways to effectively protect themselves in physical and non-physical encounters. You will be mentally, physically, and emotionally challenged to build resilience, strength, and confidence. Women in this program will have a safe environment to learn verbal and non-verbal ways to communicate during stressful social interactions which would improve emotion regulation.
In this program, women are challenged to develop a heightened level of general and situational awareness. You will learn skills to program your natural instincts, “sixth sense” to be better aware of your surroundings when in public areas. You will also learn to recognize emotional triggers and understand ways to manage your emotions in stressful situations.
When you join KANA’s Women’s Self Defense Program, you pledge to dedicate time building physical strength through warm-up exercise and physical combat techniques that will be used in high risk situations. You will also learn escape and response tactics to prepare you for potential rape situations and encounters where women are typically taken advantage of. You will become fluent in combat (strikes, useful kicks, pressure points) when dealing with an array of social dilemmas.
