KANA’s Kid’s Self Defense Program

The purpose of the KANA for Kids Program is to teach your kids peaceful, healthy, and effective ways to resolve conflicts by first resorting to non-physical measures in stressful situations. Your kids will understand the importance of maintaining desirable education standards including grades (C+ average or higher; determined on an individual basis) and conduct. They will also learn physical combat techniques to defend themselves in particular, high risk situations where non-violent techniques are not effective.

Your kids will become fluent with verbal and non-verbal communication, using their voice and body language to effectively communicate with others. Mental stimulation is a key factor in various facets of life. Therefore, kids participating in the KANA for Kids Program will be mentally stimulated which would increase their ability to make sound decisions in high-stress situations whether in the school, home, or community environment. Likewise, your kids will be challenged to learn and practice emotion regulation/management techniques to be better prepared when presented with triggers. Delayed response techniques will be taught for the purpose of helping them to improve decision-making skills. Your kids will also be taught situational awareness techniques which would help them to becomes cognizant of their instinctual nature and learn ways to use this “sixth sense” to protect themselves during physical altercations. They will learn techniques to always increase and maintain alertness and general awareness.

Safety is a key factor; therefore, your kids will practice skills to reduce the amount of damage inflicted on self and others during physical combat when necessary. They will be educated on practical ways to deal with social encounters and build physical and mental strength to improve their performance during encounters with bigger individuals where more force may be necessary. Your kids will also be educated on fight or flight responses and learn escape tactics during physical encounters with others. They will also learn to avoid provoking conflict with others, understand consequences and mutual respect for others as well as self-advocacy.
